Residency Program Information

The OHSU Otolaryngology residency program is a five to seven year program. Residents in the traditional track complete a one year PGY-1 year in surgery, followed by four years of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery training. Residents admitted to the research track will have one year in surgery, three years in Otolaryngology and, following the PGY-4 year, will complete a two year research program. After the research training is complete, the resident will return to the residency program for the final year of training. The OHSU program participates in the Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery Matching Program. Interviews for admission to the program in 2010 will be held on November 16, December 7, and January 11, 2010. Candidates will be contacted starting in October 2009.

Appointments are made to the program in January, six months prior to the beginning of surgical training and 18 months prior to the beginning of the initial otolaryngologic training. Information about the matching program may be obtained from the applicant's school. The program begins July 1 and ends June 30 for each year of the residency. The three applicants who are accepted into the residency program each year will be notified by the matching program followed by a telephone call and correspondence from the department chairman.

All applicants are requested to keep the department up to date with changes in addresses and telephone numbers. For more information about the application process for the OHSU Otolaryngology residency program, email the Department Administrative Coordinator.

The Department Residency Coordinator will work with candidates once they have been chosen, and can be reached by email here .
