Dr. Tom D. Wang, Professor of Facial Plastic Surgery at OHSU, recently returned from leading another surgical team to Peru. Under the auspices of Northwest Medical Teams International, this is the 3 rd year Dr. Wang has brought a team to the Kausai Wasi Clinic in Coya, Peru. This year's trip was the second for Dr. Brian Downs, Facial Plastic Surgeon at OHSU, and the first for Dr. Paul Leong, fellow in Facial Plastic Surgery.

Many children with cleft deformities of the lip and palate received treatment. Other children with microtias (absent/malformed ears) and scars and injuries from burns also received surgical care. Dr. Wang says, "It was a great opportunity for us to help those in need. Everyone on the team worked very hard to take care of as many patients as we could. This was a wonderfully rewarding experience, both personally and professionally.   We are all looking forward to returning to Peru again next year and continuing our work."
