COCHLEAR IMPLANTS AT

Cochlear implants are surgically implanted devices done to allow previously deaf patients to hear. Cochlear implant technology has evolved significantly over the past few years. Patients who will be candidates for this surgery will be those who are significantly hearing impaired and who receive no benefit from conventional hearing aids. A multidisciplinary team approach is used at OHSU in cochlear implantation. The team consists of a surgeon and an audiologist/
rehabilitation specialist. Working together, the best cochlear implant is chosen for that particular patient.
