Community Consultation Activity Schedule
Community consultation provides an opportunity for community members – that is, potential study participants and their family members – to provide feedback to researchers. In each community, the local IRB determines the community outreach processes, which could include public meetings, ads, mailed brochures, website notification, etc. Ample opportunity is provided for public comment, questions and debate.
The IRB is required to consider community concerns when deciding whether and how a research study will be conducted, often in consultation with ethicists.
