The OHSU Pediatric Emergency Services (PES) is open 11 a.m.
to 11 p.m., seven days a week. The PES is staffed by pediatric-
experienced, emergency medicine board eligible or certified
physicians who maintain pediatric emergency CME. The PES is
guided by six pediatric emergency physicians who have
appointments in the Department of Emergency Medicine and
Pediatrics (Jo Su, M.D., Chief; David Spiro, M.D, M.P.H., Medical
Director, Garth Meckler, M.D., M.S.P.H, Robert
Cloutier, M.D.; and Craig R. Warden, M.D., M.P.H.), as well as
pediatric-experienced, board-certified emergency physicians who
maintain pediatric emergency credentials.
Nurses in the ED are PALS-certified (Pediatric Advanced Life
Support) and have taken the Emergency Nursing Association's
Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course. We provide continuing
education for our Pediatric Nurses who staff the ED on a monthly
basis which is coordinated with our educational experience for the
residents including a monthly pediatric simulation.
