We are committed to delivering state-of-the-art emergency and
urgent care to pediatric patients in the Portland metropolitan area and
throughout the State. Pediatric Emergency Services (PES) at OHSU
and Doernbecher Children's Hospital appreciates the need to provide
appropriate and cost-effective care to pediatric patients and that we
exist in the continuum of care from the primary care provider (PCP) to
the tertiary care center that is available at Oregon's only free-standing
children's hospital.
Pediatric Emergency Medicine exists within Emergency Department
at OHSU and academically is in the Department of Emergency
Medicine. We have six general pediatric examination rooms of which
one is dedicated to resuscitations and monitored sedation
procedures. In addition, there is a dedicated Pediatric Resuscitation
Room at the ambulance entrance for trauma and medical
resuscitations.
The Dept of Emergency Medicine sponsors the Robert Wood Johnson funded
Injury-Free Coalition for Kids that
supports after-school programs teaching injury prevention topics, building several playgrounds
for schools in N. Portland, studying the causes of pediatric injuries in the Portland
metropolitan area, and coordinating other injury prevention programs with community partners
and the Doernbecher Safety Center.
