Dear Prospective Residents and Friends:
Thank you for your interest in the Oregon Health Sciences University Emergency Medicine
Residency Program. The residency program was established in 1978. The three-year residency program
is nurtured by an energetic and dedicated faculty and administrative staff who form the OHSU School
of Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine. The department has a proud tradition of excellence
that will serve you well in your professional life.
The department has active, nationally recognized medical toxicology,
emergency medical services, and clinical outcomes research programs.
New areas of emphasis in pediatric emergency medicine and medical
informatics are under active development. Collectively, these programs
infuse the department and its Emergency Medicine Residency Program with
innovations and unique learning opportunities.
The residency program will provide you with the foundations of knowledge,
skill, judgment and decision-making capacity that are required for the
dynamic work environment of the future. The faculty members recognize
the interrelatedness of scientific knowledge, system integration, and
human interaction during care delivery and have incorporated this
holistic approach to our curricula. I invite you to view our
Web site and to apply for admission. I urge you to contact us
if you have questions.
