The Medical Toxicology Fellowship Program is a two-year training program for physicians who are already qualified in a primary specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. The fellowship is one of a limited number of toxicology programs which is approved by the ACGME, hence graduates qualify to take the Clinical Toxicology boards
The program is designed to prepare the fellow for board certification in medical toxicology. Beyond that objective, the goals of the fellowship are to provide an excellent experience in a broad range of areas related to medical toxicology and to facilitate in-depth training in an area of
emphasis chosen by the fellow.

Major areas of emphasis include acute care medical toxicology, occupational and environmental toxicology and public health/health policy issues in toxicology. Within a chosen area of emphasis, training prepares the fellow for future leadership in related research, education and
policymaking.

Competency and board qualification are achieved through ongoing clinical teaching, topical reviews and formal curriculum. In-depth training in an area of emphasis is accomplished by selection of a mentor, choice of related topics for review and presentation, formal course work, and pursuit of relevant research.
