Informatics

Medical informatics is the scientific field that deals with the storage, retrieval, sharing, and optimal use of biomedical information, data, and knowledge for problem solving and decision making. It affects all basic and applied fields in health and is closely tied to 21st century information technologies, notably in the areas of computing and communication.

The Department of Emergency Medicine has a long standing interest in medical informatics and the application of informatics technology in the OHSU Emergency Department. The OHSU Department of Emergency Medicine Informatics section is multi-disciplinary and includes physician, nursing, and support staff.
