Dr. Norton receives ACEP teaching award
Dr. Robert Norton was awarded the 2016 American College of Emergency Physicians' National Emergency Medicine Faculty Teaching Award. Dr. Norton is being recognized for his decades of dedication and innovation in teaching emergency medicine.
The award nomination letter described Dr. Norton's many contributions to our department: "Dr. Norton is the most distinguished and valued of our clinical faculty. As evidence by his lengthy teaching portfolio and his meaningful commitments, his is bedrock of our department's clinical and educational efforts. He elevates the level of our conversations through his breadth of knowledge and experience. His colleagues consistently describe him as professional and 100% committed to EM education and the advancement of the field of emergency medicine. He sets a high bar for clinical practice that is felt throughout the hospital."
Dr. Norton received his M.D. from Dartmouth Medical School. He completed his residency training at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals. Dr. Norton joined the OHSU Department of Emergency Medicine in 1980 and has been actively involved in education, receiving multiple clinical instructor of the year awards. Dr. Norton's clinical interests are in toxicology, critical care, observation medicine, aeromedical transportation, and emergency medical services.
