The Department of Emergency Medicine is pleased to announce the promotion and tenure of John McConnell, Ph.D., M.S., M.A., to the rank of Professor. Dr. McConnell has been in the Department of Emergency Medicine since 2002. Most recently he has been serving as the Director of the Center for Health Systems Effectiveness where he leads a team of researchers who fuse economic approaches with large data set analytic capabilities with the aim of improving the value of our health care system and "bending the curve" of health care spending growth.
Additionally, Esther Choo, M.D., M.P.H., who returned to OHSU in March 2016, has been affirmed at the Associate Professor level. Dr. Choo completed her research fellowship training at OHSU in 2009. She has spent the last seven years at Brown University. Dr. Choo's research interests include substance use disorders, violence, women's health, health disparities, gender medicine, digital health, intervention development, and faculty development.
Congratulations to Drs. McConnell and Choo, who will be recognized at the School of Medicine Promotion and Tenure Ceremony on September 30, 2016 from 4:30 – 6:30 pm in the OHSU Old Library.
