David Jones, MD recipient of the first annual GME Educational Leadership Award
David Jones, MD has been selected as a recipient of the first annual GME Educational Leadership Award. These awards are given to leaders in graduate medical education that have: demonstrated consistent, outstanding service to the OHSU GME community beyond the expectations of their job description; overcoming barriers to achieve excellence in resident/fellow education; participated in educational research and scholarship that enhances GME at OHSU; innovation in resident/fellow education at OHSU, including novel uses of technology, pioneering curriculum, or inventive methods of learner engagement.
Some excerpts from his letter of nomination
“His enthusiasm for resident and student education is contagious. He has also been a part of several interprofessional education sessions between the School of Medicine and the School of Nursing since his arrival at OHSU. He is always willing to step up to improve the program and is a natural leader.”
“Dr. Jones has worked diligently to revamp the academic curriculum for the residency program, including enhancing the asynchronous curriculum and has transitioned the curriculum into more frequent small group activities and case based presentations based on resident feedback. This has allowed the residents to be more active learners in their education and retain more of the information presented at our educational conferences.”
