Hosting of Video Files
SCOPE OF SERVICES
EdComm now provides hosting of OHSU-related video files for employees.
HOSTING STANDARDS
There are three video formats that EdComm can host. Following are the standards for each:
Real
- From 56 Kbps to 256 Kbps stream rate
- Up to 640x480 pixel image size
- Real Media file (.rm format)
- Requires player download to view video files
Windows Media
- From 56 Kbps to 256 Kbps stream rate
- Up to 640x480 pixel image size
- Windows Media file (.wmv format)
- Player built-in to Windows O/S
Flash
- Less than or equal to 500 Kbps stream rate
- Up to 640x480 pixel image size
- Flash file (.flv format)
- Playerless viewing via Web browser
Customer Responsibilities
The following is what the customer is expected to provide for video hosting:
- Submit a hosting request form and email to edcomm1@ohsu.edu
- Five (5) working days are requested for processing hosting requests
- Provide content on DVD, CD-ROM or via the Share drive (Transfer folder)
- Compliance with pertinent broadcasting policies (see departmental SLA)
EdComm Responsibilities
The following is what EdComm will provide to the customer for video hosting:
- Assign a technician to process your request
- NO file creation, manipulation, editing or conversion will be performed
- Exceptions may apply and may be subject to fees.
- Upload video file(s) to server(s) and confirm video playback
- Email notification of completion, including URL [customer completes the URL name by including the video file name at the end of the URL string e.g. http://media.ohsu.edu/...(insert file name) ]
- Process completed within three (3) to five (5) working days, most cases
STORAGE AND ARCHIVAL GUIDELINES
- A department/unit/user may have up to 5 GB of video files on the server
- EdComm will notify the customer when this limit has been exceeded and discuss plans for removal and/or archive to DVD
- Archival to media may be fee-based
- Video files will be deleted after three months of no activity (hits) or after one year, unless specific approval is granted
- EdComm will notify the customer when these timeframes have occurred and, unless other plans are discussed, remove the files within ten (10) business days of customer notification
