Using WebDAV to upload documents to the Resources folder
Sakai uses WebDAV to transfer files and folders from your local computer to the Resources folder of your My Workspace, Course or Project site. WebDAV is an abbreviation for "Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning."
After you have set up WebDAV, your computer treats your Resources area like any other folder on your computer. You may drag and drop files and folders from Resources just as you would in My Computer in Windows XP or the Finder on a Mac.
Before You Get Started
Each site in Sakai has a site URL. You need this URL to set up the connections for WebDAV. To find your site URL, click the Upload-Download Multiple Resources on the menu bar of the Resources folder in which you want to work. bar. The screen shot below shows you where to locate the URL. Click-and-drag over the entire URL and copy it into your computer's memory before moving on to the setup instructions below.

Setup Instructions
The instructions vary slightly among operating systems. Follow the instructions for your your operating system below. Click on the link that matches your computer's operating system:.

- When asked for your username and password, enter the username and password you use to access this site. This may not work due to a bug with WebDAV. That's okay! Read the important note below to correct the problem..
Important note about the WebDAV bug: If nothing appears to happen when you click OK after supplying your username and password, re-enter your username and password and click OK again. If nothing appears to happen a second time, click Cancel and then click OK when told "Your folder does not appear to be valid". Once back to the Internet or network address box, click Next. Supply your username and password and click OK. This multiple-try approach usually works. If not, phone the Sakai Help Desk for support at 503-494-7074.
- Enter a name for the site resources you are adding. This name is used on your computer when referencing the class or project resource folder.

- Click "Finish" to complete the set up.
- When the setup is complete, the site resources folder will appear in your My Workplaces as a folder. It will also show up under My Network Places in Windows Explorer, where it will act just like any other folder in Windows Explorer.
