Academic Technology

OHSU's Educational Communications Department offers the Sakai course management system as its collaboration and learning environment. Each term, approximately 130 active course sites serve over 2,300 students, instructors, researchers and guests. Accounts are issued by the Sakai Administrator based on enrollment needs.

The navigation bar to the left gives access to specially-developed flash-based tutorials, frequently asked questions by students and instructors, and a direct connection to the Sakai trouble ticket system. The Sakai Help Desk is staffed for immediate assistance by phone from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. The phone number appears on the Saki login page.

The Academic Technology group of the Educational Communications Department organizes OHSU's Teaching and Learning Technology Roundtable (TLTR) designed to bring together professionals who would not otherwise collaborate on educational improvements, providing a forum for discussion and sharing on issues related to educational technologies. The TLTR meets at noon on the third Friday of most months.

OHSU coordinates Adobe Acrobat Connect web-conferencing services through the Academic Technology group. Features include streaming audio and video, whiteboarding, online annotation tools, application and desktop sharing, web conferencing capability, Macintosh compatibility and attendee management. Integrated telephone conferencing can be arranged as a part of any web-conference. Usage fees may be applicable.
