Visiting Tutorial Program

The interventional radiology visiting tutorial program, under the direction of Dr. Frederick Keller, offers short-term (one to three-weeks) visiting fellowships in Interventional Radiology. Designed for individuals who already possess basic catheter skills, but who wish to expand on their practices, these fellowships encompass the entire spectrum of interventional radiology, including both vascular and nonvascular procedures. In the last thirteen years, 90 interventionalists have participated in this program: 68 from the United States, 8 from Hong Kong, 4 from the United Kingdom, 4 from Australia, 2 from Canada, and 1 each from Columbia, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, New Zealand and Sweden.

The visiting tutorial program can be tailored to meet each individual's needs and includes observations of clinical cases, participation in daily clinical conferences and didactic sessions, as well as informal discussions in both the clinical sessions and laboratory. Eleven full-time interventional faculty are available for both formal and informal didactic teaching sessions with the fellows and are able to give individualized attention to specific clinical, procedural, and technical questions. Fellows can also elect to have supervised "hands-on" training in the Dotter Research Laboratory, during which they can practice some techniques of their own interest- from TIPS to embolization techniques or percutaneous nonvascular interventions- at their own pace.

Fellowship dates are available by individual arrangement. This fellowship is approved for Category 1 CME credit.
