| Dr. Pavcnik being congratulated by Drs. Keller and Rösch on his appointment to the "Josef Rösch Chair of Interventional Radiology Research" (Jan. 2000) |
In July of 1995, at the age of 70, and after a long, productive and brilliant career in vascular and interventional radiology, Dr. Josef Rösch stepped down from clinical practice. Rösch, however, continues to be very active within the Institute, serving as director of research, mentoring residents, fellows, and junior staff, and exploring new methods of interventional radiology education using teleconferencing.
In order to honor this unique and dedicated individual, the "Josef Rösch Chair of Interventional Radiology Research" was established. This endowed chair is the first ever to be devoted to interventional radiology research. Funds for the chair came from a generous donation from Cook Group Inc. with a challenge for the Dotter Institute, OHSU and the OHS Foundation to match it. Former residents and fellows of Rösch, as well as colleagues and friends from around the world, generously contributed matching funds.
After thoroughly evaluating and interviewing several candidates, the Dotter Institute was pleased to announce the appointment of Dusan Pavcnik, M.D., Ph.D., to the Rösch Chair in January 2000.
