Martin Porras began working as the Dotter Institute’s first Physician Assistant in November, 2003. His duties include pre-procedural patient preparation, post procedure care and patient education. He monitors IVC filters for removal, performs inpatient and outpatient consultations, and initiates patient work-ups. He also triages patient and physician phone calls, and as necessary, assists with daily procedures.

Porras has been a PA since 2000. He is a graduate of the University of Washington’s MEDEX program. His background experience is in cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. He worked as a cardiovascular technologist for 10 years prior to becoming a physician assistant.

Being new to Portland, Porras spends most of his off-time exploring Oregon with his two dogs.
