Dr. Paul Lakin plays a vital role in the continued success of the Institute as associate professor at the Dotter Institute and of Diagnostic Radiology and Surgery at OHSU. He is also the residency director for the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and is a staff radiologist at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Lakin joined the Dotter Institute and the Department of Diagnostic Radiology in 1992.
In addition to his hospital responsibilities, Lakin is an examiner for the American Board of Radiology. He is a member of many professional organizations, including SCVIR, the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the Association of University Radiologists and the American Roentgen Ray Society. He is a fellow in the SCVIR and the American College of Radiology.
Lakin graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1964. He completed his internship and one year of internal medicine residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. His further training included a residency in diagnostic radiology, and a fellowship in cardiovascular radiology at the University of Oregon Medical School under the guidance of Drs. Charles Dotter and Josef Rösch. He spent the next 20 years in a university-affiliated private practice in Connecticut prior to returning to OHSU. Lakin received specialty certification in vascular and interventional radiology from the American Board of Radiology in 1998.
In his spare time, Lakin enjoys spending time with his wife and five children, landscaping and hiking.
