Exhibits, Videos & CD-ROMs

Dusan Pavcnik with Best Poster award at the CIRSE

Scientific exhibits, educational videotapes and CD-ROM production have been an effective part of the Institute's educational program. Altogether, 31 scientific exhibits have been produced from 1990 to 2009. Their topics in the early nineties included demonstration of use of Z stents in treatment of large veins and esophageal obstructions, and explorations of TIPS patency. After arrival of Dr. Dusan Pavcnik, exhibits focused on showcasing his recently developed devices particularly, the square stent. It's multiple uses included endografts for aortic aneurysms, retrievable IVC filters, large vessel occluders and venous and aortic valves. More recent topics have been experimental vein ablation, exploration of small intestinal submucosa, hemostatic efficacy of chitosan bandage and healing of arterial punctures.

The scientific exhibits were presented at major national and international meetings. They were highly successful and twelve received awards including seven receiving Best Meeting Poster Award, one Cum Laude Award and one Magna Cum Laude Award..

The Institute's educational videotape on "How to do TIPS the Dotter Institute way" made in 1996 has been very successful. The multimedia CD Rom "Historic Highlights of Interventional Radiology and SCVIR" was made for the 25th anniversary of the society. It was first presented at the annual meeting of SCVIR in 1998 in San Francisco. In 1999, SCVIR gave each of the 4,000 plus registrants at the annual meeting in Orlando one these CD Roms.
