Dr. Stanley Barnwell and his neurointerventional group concentrated on the testing various new devices and techniques for treatment of acute stroke and carotid aneurysms. In treatment of acute stroke, several clot retrieval and neuro-thrombectomy devices, plus a combination of ultrasound, clot laser and thrombolytic agents, were tested. In treatment of carotid aneurysms, new types of embolization coils were tested after creating experimental aneurysms, then patching the carotid artery.
