Community Outreach
Community outreach: As a responsible member of the local community, the Dotter Institute has been participating in outreach programs aimed not only at medical professionals, but also laypersons. These activities are developed as needed to meet the interests or concerns of a particular group of individuals. The Institute has also provided speakers for health-related discussion groups held by and for the general public.
Recent topics covered during these meetings (known as "healthy chats" or "brown-bag specials") have been treatment options in peripheral vascular disease and alternatives to hysterectomy. In addition, members of the Dotter staff regularly have contributed their expertise, and provided interviews on various public awareness programs involving radio, television and print media. The Institute’s staff has been also active in the recent screening and public educational program Legs for Life.
