Training Program in the Molecular Basis of Skin Pathobiology
(NIH/NCI Training Program)
Two positions for recent Ph.D.s, M.D./Ph.D.s or M.D.s who are U.S. Citizens or
Permanent Residents are open in an NIH-funded program for training highly qualified
candidates for academic careers in basic and translational research in skin
diseases, including cancer and psoriasis. The OHSU Dermatology Department has
a strong history of clinical and scientific research and a 40-year record in
training dermatology residents including physician scientists and postdoctoral
scientists on the path to independence.

Training program faculty
The core of Dermatology faculty includes:
- Program director Molly Kulesz-Martin (E-3 ubiquitin and SUMO ligases as regulators of carcinogenesis and psoriasis, MAP kinases and phosphatases in prevention and cancer treatment)
- Andrew Blauvelt (psoriasis, IL-23 and dendritic cells)
- Steven Jacques (cutaneous optical imaging)
- Xiao-Jing Wang (epidermal gene-switch transgenic models, TGF-beta/SMAD pathways in skin and in head and neck carcinogenesis and psoriasis, stromal-epithelial interactions)
- Melissa Wong (regenerative adult stem cells, the beta-catenin pathway in intestinal development and cancer)
- Bruce Magun and Mihail Iordanov (TGF-beta and stress kinase responses, atopic dermatitis)
- Peter Rotwein (insulin-like growth factors/IGFs in differentiation, tissue growth and regeneration)
- Rosalie Sears (Cdk/Rb/E2F, Ras, and Myc signaling in cancer)
- Philip Stork (Ras and B-Raf signaling in growth and apoptosis)
