OHSU is the first dermatology department on the west coast to have a dedicated nail clinic focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of complex nail disorders. Although dermatologists manage all conditions pertaining to skin, hair and nails; the specialty covers an extremely broad range of conditions, including many rare conditions. And even though nail disease is a subset within that spectrum, it also has a diverse scope that includes infectious, benign and malignant tumors, and inflammatory conditions, and congenital nail problems. Therefore, it is of great benefit to patients with nail problems to be seen by a specialist.

The nail clinic is directed by Phoebe Rich, M.D., adjunct professor of dermatology,
whose interest and expertise in nail disorders spans nearly 20 years. Other doctors
involved in the care of nails include Ken Lee, M.D.,
who will provide Mohs micrographic
surgery expertise and Alfons Krol, M.D.,
who will support pediatric patients in the clinic.
