When done by an experienced
and trained laser surgeon, laser surgery is, on the whole,
a safe procedure. However, there are risks to all procedures,
including laser surgery. Scarring and textural changes can
occur, and the likelihood varies depending on the specific
laser surgery. Overall, the probability of this happening
is low. Pigment change (too light or too dark) can occur after
laser surgery. In many occasions this is related to sun exposure.
Sun precautions need to be adhered to closely before and after
laser surgery.
