We have moved!
New Era of the Department of Dermatology has begun
It is a great pleasure to announce that the OHSU Department of Dermatology
has moved from its previous location in the Outpatient Clinic on Marquam
Hill to the new Center for Health & Healing on the South Waterfront.
Our move provides many benefits for both the department and for you, our
patients. Benefits for patients include easy access, easy parking and
increased appointment availability. There will also be a wider selection
of aesthetic and cosmetic services available. Benefits for the department
include more much-needed space for our clinics and education programs.
The building’s new address is 3303 SW Bond Avenue,
however, one quick glance toward the Willamette River from the Ross Island
or Marquam bridges, and its location is easily apparent. Most general
dermatology services will be located on the 16th floor. Surgical, laser
and cosmetic services will be offered on the 5th floor.
Being Green
OHSU’s first building in the South Waterfront is on track
to be one of the most environmentally friendly buildings in
the nation and perhaps the greenest large-scale health and bioscience
building in the world. At the Center for Health & Healing,
wise use of natural resources helps save on operating costs.
For example, rainwater is reused in toilets and landscaping;
daylight and the sun’s energy are fully leveraged for
light and heat; chilled beams replace air conditioning; and
an on-site micro-turbine plant generates a third of the building’s
electricity. The building is 61 percent more energy efficient than required by Oregon code; 56 percent less potable water is used than in a comparable conventional building; and 100 percent on-site sewage treatment reduces the amount of water reaching the city’s sewer system.
