Overview
We are pleased to announce that Dawn Siegel, M.D., has joined our faculty as an assistant professor in Dermatology, Division of Pediatric Dermatology.

Before coming to OHSU, Dr. Siegel did medical school training at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She was an intern and resident in pediatrics at Children's Hospital Oakland. She most recently comes from the University of California San Francisco where she completed both a dermatology residency and a pediatric dermatology fellowship. In addition, while at the University of California San Francisco, Dr. Siegel did a two-year National Institutes of Health Research Fellowship.

Dr. Siegel manages all types of pediatric skin conditions. She has a special interest genetic skin disorders such as neurofibromatosis, tuberous sclerosis, ectodermal dysplasia and ichthyosis. Additionally, Dr. Siegel's interests include vascular birthmarks, laser surgery and the management of complex pediatric skin conditions.

Dr. Siegel has a research interest in genetic skin diseases. Her current project involves gene discovery for a syndrome known as PHACES. PHACES is described as the association of hemangiomas, usually large segmental ones involving the face, along with one or more of the following anomalies: posterior fossa brain malformations, hemangiomas, arterial cerebrovascular anomalies, cardiac and cardiovascular anomalies, eye anomalies and sternal cleft or pit. During her research fellowship at UCSF, Dr. Siegel was involved in the identification of the gene for a blistering and photosensitivity disorder, known as Kindler syndrome.

Dr. Siegel is board certified in dermatology. She is a member of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology. She has given several presentations national meetings and regularly instructs medical students and residents in pediatric dermatology.
