Professor Emeritus of Dermatology
Dr. Hanifin is an international lecturer and recognized expert in the research and treatment of atopic dermatitis, and has directed various national and international symposiums on this subject. He is a valued member of the research community, respected for his investigations into the clinical, biological and genetic aspects of the atopic diseases, as well as other immunologic and inflammatory conditions.
Dr. Hanifin has had a long affiliation with patient advocacy groups, serving the National Psoriasis Foundation for fifteen years on the Medical Advisory Board and the Board of Trustees. He helped in 1989 to found the National Eczema Association for Science and Education, is past-president (1989-90), and continues to serve on the Board of Directors.
Dr. Hanifin has published more than 215 peer-reviewed articles and has contributed chapters to numerous textbooks.
Dr. Hanifin is active in the American Academy of Dermatology, the parent organization for dermatology, and served on the Board of Directors from 1998-2002. In addition, he is past president of the Oregon Dermatological Society and former vice president and board member of the Society for Investigative Dermatology. He is a member of the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology; American Association for the Advancement of Science; American Dermatological Association; and American Medical Association. He is an honorary member of the Japanese Society for Investigative Dermatology and the Japanese Dermatology Association, and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honorary medical fraternity.

Overview
Jon M. Hanifin, M.D., is a professor of dermatology at Oregon Health
& Science University. He earned his medical degree from the University
of Wisconsin Medical School (Madison) and received specialty training
in dermatology from the University of California Medical Center
(San Francisco, where he also served an NIH research fellowship
in hematology/immunology). His responsibilities include academic
clinical practice, clinical and laboratory research, and academic
education. His clinical practice in the Department of Dermatology
is focused upon atopic dermatitis and other eczemas, as well as
general dermatology.
