Overview
We are pleased to announce that Benjamin D. Ehst, M.D., Ph.D. has joined the Department of Dermatology as an assistant professor of dermatology. Dr. Ehst’s appointment is exciting both for the department and for the Pacific Northwest community, as he brings special skills in patient care and dermatologic research.

Dr. Ehst received his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and then enrolled in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Minnesota, where he completed both his doctorate in immunology and his medical degree. Dr. Ehst’s dermatology residency training was accomplished at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. During his residency training, Dr. Ehst also worked as a postdoctoral research fellow investigating the immune response to vector-borne infectious disease and served briefly as a visiting resident physician in São Paulo, Brazil.

Dr. Ehst has published in several peer-reviewed journals, has spoken at national conferences, and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Society for Investigative Dermatology. Dr. Ehst’s clinical efforts will be focused on general medical dermatology. His special interests include infectious disease and the care of HIV-infected individuals, and he plans to pursue translational research initiatives focusing on immunologic skin disease.
