Description of the Didactic Curriculum

CORE COURSES

  • Orientation: Six week course surveying the essentials of child and adolescent psychiatry
  • Child Development A/B: Integrated classic and contemporary literature
  • Psychopharmacology A/B:
  • Public Psychiatry A/B: Consultation, administration, ethics, medico-legal issues, systems of care, forensic child psychiatry
  • Treatment Modalities A/B: Integrating psychotherapy and psychopharmacology, psychodynamic psychotherapy, parent training, family therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, multi-systemic therapy, group theray, and collaborative problem solving
  • Evaluation Practicum: Use of live interviews by faculty and fellows to develop skills in interviewing, clinical formulation, differential diagnosis and treatment planning
