Information on Health Promotion and Common Pediatric Problems
Bright Futures Family Pocket Guide: Raising Healthy Infants, Children and Adolescents (www.brightfuturesforfamilies.org/pocket_guide.shtml). The Family Pocket Guide is based on Bright Futures: Guidance for health supervision of Infants, Children and Adolescents, 2nd Edition, M Green and J. Palfrey, editors. It is published by Family Voices at the Federation for Children with Special Needs, Boston, MA. It includes sections on early childhood, middle childhood and adolescence. The topics include family relationships, helping your child gain confidence and social skills, encouraging success in school., being part of your community and health transitions for young adults. Kids Growth (www.kidsgrowth.com) and Beansprout Networks (www.beansprout.com). Both of these web sites offer a variety of materials for parents on growth development, behavior and common pediatric problems. Kigsgrowth.com also offers a teen site. Beansprout.com also offers supports to pediatric professionals including assistance constructing a web site and provided parents an on-line connection to their pediatrician (if the pediatrician is participating in Beansprout's on-line directory).
Southern Oregon Pediatrics (www.sopeds.com). This is a web site of a pediatric practice in Medford Oregon. They are one of the practices in the Oregon Medical Home Project. They have posted information on a number of common health issues in children and adolescents developed by Dr. Barton Schmidt, a pediatrician in Colorado.
