Child Development
The Child Development Clinic offers pediatric diagnosis and evaluation for a wide variety of developmental delays and disorders including:
- specific learning difficulties
- mental retardation
- autism
- developmental behavioral problems, ADHD (attention defecit-hyperactivity disorder)
Other issues addressed by this clinic include:
- behavioral or developmental disorders related to prenatal drug exposure and fetal alcohol syndrome and effects
- developmental problems associated with very low birth weight or perinatal complications
- behavioral or developmental concerns related to child abuse or neglect
Recommended services vary according to the child's age, diagnosis and referral concerns. For example, basic evaluation service for a four-year old child with delays in motor skills and language would include evaluations by a developmental pediatrician, occupational or physical therapist, speech-language pathologist, audiologist, psychologist and social worker.
