Your Support Can Make a Difference
The Child Development and Rehabilitation Center needs your help!
Recent cuts in Federal and State funding have made it more challenging than ever to provide services essential to the health of so many children, adults and families in our region. With your generosity, our clinicians, researchers and educators will continue to change lives, make new breakthroughs and train the caregivers of the future. Every gift counts.
You can make a gift right now
The Child Development and Rehabilitation Center - CDRC - can receive online donations through the OHSU Foundation web site. This is the fastest and easiest way to support CDRC. Please be sure to designate your gift to CDRC by selecting "Other" from the designation menu and type in CDRC on the comment line.
For any of the following giving options, you may designate your gift in honor or in memory of a loved one. We will notify the next-of-kin or appropriate individual of your thoughtful gift.

Make a Planned Gift
Planned gifts involve working closely with OHSU foundation staff to plan a gift to CDRC that also provides you with tremendous tax and financial advantages. These gifts are tailored to meet the needs of your specific financial and estate circumstances. Some planned gifts are also called deferred gifts because the benefit to CDRC is deferred until some point in the future, although you may benefit immediately. Such gifts can offer donors (or those they designate) an income for life, an immediate income tax deduction and potential estate planning benefits.
The following types of planned gifts are available:
Gift Annuities
Provide fixed payments for the life of one or two individuals. Amount of the annual payment is based on age of the income beneficiaries at the time of the gift (the older the recipient, the larger the payout rate). Part of the income may be tax-free. Requires $5,000 minimum to participate.
Pooled Income Fund
Gifts from many donors are pooled for investment purposes. Each donor receives a pro rata share of the earnings each year. Requires $5,000 minimum to participate.
Charitable Remainder Unitrusts
Especially for appreciated assets and real estate. Establishes an irrevocable trust that provides an income for the donor's life or up to 20 years. Provides a variable income based on a percentage of the annual value of the trust assets as determined each year. Requires $50,000 minimum to participate.
Charitable Remainder Annuity Trusts
Excellent for older donors with appreciated stock. Establishes an irrevocable trust that pays a fixed dollar amount each year for the donor’s life or up to 20 years. Requires $50,000 minimum to participate.
Charitable Lead Trusts
A trust that provides distributions to the OHSU Foundation to benefit CDRC for a certain number of years. In most cases, the principal is then distributed to a donor’s children or other heirs at greatly reduced gift and estate tax rates.
Life Estate Gifts
A donation of a residence, farm, or vacation home to the OHSU Foundation benefiting CDRC, with the ability to continue using the property for life. Donors can receive an income tax deduction now and retain the right to enjoy and use the property for the remainder of their lives.
Donor Advised Fund
This type of fund allows a donor, family members or selected advisors an ongoing advisory role in directing distributions from a pre-established fund to benefit various CDRC programs or other health-related charities. Gifts to the fund are fully deductible for income tax purposes. Compared to a private foundation, there are minimal administrative and legal costs associated with a donor advised fund.
Estate Gifts
Friends of CDRC can make a significant contribution through an estate plan. A bequest also can be made through a living trust. Donors who name CDRC as a beneficiary in their will are entitled to membership in the Sam Jackson Guild. It is important to consult with an attorney to determine whether a charitable bequest can be made by drafting a codicil to an existing will or if a new will is needed.
Attorneys and financial advisors can visit our Planned Giving Design Center for more technical information on estate and charitable planning considerations.

Gifts of Property and Goods (Gifts in Kind)
Antiques, art, boats, and other items may be excellent gifts. When such gifts can be used by CDRC (office equipment or library books, for example), their full fair market value may be tax-deductible. If the item is to be sold by CDRC through the OHSU Foundation, or if CDRC cannot use it in its normal operations, the deduction is limited to the cost basis of the item. For more information on gifts of property and goods, please call our Department of Planned Giving, 503-228-1730 or e-mail pginfo@ohsu.edu
Pledges
Making a pledge to CDRC allows you to make installment payments on your gift. Monthly or annual pledges can be made. For more information on this type of gift, contact David Stepp at 503-228-1730, or e-mail steppd@ohsu.edu
Gifts of Real Estate
A gift of a residence, vacation home, or investment property can provide significant resources to CDRC while maximizing your tax benefits. To find out more about making a gift of real estate, please call our Department of Planned Giving, 503-228-1730 or e-mail pginfo@ohsu.edu
Gifts of Stock
Gifts of stock can provide you with a double tax benefit. You can deduct the full fair market value of your appreciated stock, not just what you originally paid, and you save again by avoiding all capital gains taxes on your "paper profit." For more information on donating stock to CDRC, please call our Department of Planned Giving, 503-228-1730, or e-mail pginfo@ohsu.edu
Matching Gifts
Many businesses participate in matching gift programs. This is a
great way to increase the impact of your donation dollars. To find
out if your company will match your gift, ask your personnel or
human resources department.
