HIPAA: Research HIPAA sets new standards for how people’s protected health information can be used and disclosed. According to HIPAA, a health care provider like OHSU can use patients’health information in the course of treatment, payment, and operations. See the links at left for more information on research, and see the Final Rule Overview for more on the privacy standards. (3.44 mb)
