Vanessa Lee

I was born and raised in the Portland area, went to college in Chicago, decided I preferred rain over snow, and found myself back in Portland enrolled in the small but mighty MD/MPH program here at OHSU. I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up (I’m leaning toward OB/GYN or family medicine, but thank goodness I have an extra “victory lap” of school to figure it out!) My passion for global health is the driving force behind my journey through medical school and I hope to address health disparities both globally and locally as a physician. When I’m not trolling coffee shops or eating bagels in the Mac Hall cafeteria, I enjoy people-watching, being mediocre at running and yoga, tennis dates with my family, cheering obnoxiously for the Northwestern Wildcats, and rediscovering all the places that make Oregon so great.

Ever wondered what life is like as a student at OHSU? What does it take to become a researcher? Just how gross is gross anatomy? Welcome to the blog that answers these – and many other – questions. It’s students writing first-hand about their commitment to careers in science and health care. It’s honest about the challenges as well as the joys. It’s not always pretty. But it is our story. Thank you for sharing it with us. And please, let us know what you think.
