Shabnam Ghazizadeh

I’m a coast to coast nomad – born and raised in New York, lived in Portland throughout high school, and then spent 6 years in California. My perspective comes from my desire to learn and appreciate culture – culture of a person, a place, an ethnicity.  OHSU has been my dream school since my days as a Lincoln Cardinal in downtown Portland. It is surreal to be here 10 years later. I try to appreciate every day and a soak in every minute.

Read the article you posted back in October 2015 about making the decision to pursue the surgical residency with the most difficult name to spell (Otolaryngology), and I was just wondering if you got it? Thank you so much, and cheers from a pre-med student from California who’s very passionate about ENT.

Ever wondered what life is like as a student at OHSU? What does it take to become a researcher? Just how gross is gross anatomy? Welcome to the blog that answers these – and many other – questions. It’s students writing first-hand about their commitment to careers in science and health care. It’s honest about the challenges as well as the joys. It’s not always pretty. But it is our story. Thank you for sharing it with us. And please, let us know what you think.
