Brian Zaro

Brian_ZaroBrian is a Oregon native and lover of fall who grew up just outside of Portland before attending George Fox University in Newberg, OR. He studied Religion and French, played on the soccer team, and spent time in Europe, Africa, and South America. After graduation he enjoyed the magnificent peaks and valleys of Yosemite National Park while working with kids and college students in the Sierra National Forest. After several years of being a wilderness EMT, ski patroller, phlebotomist and emergency department scribe, he, his wife and their spunky Boston Terrier are grateful to be enjoying life in Portland and a part of the OHSU PA program.

Ever wondered what life is like as a student at OHSU? What does it take to become a researcher? Just how gross is gross anatomy? Welcome to the blog that answers these – and many other – questions. It’s students writing first-hand about their commitment to careers in science and health care. It’s honest about the challenges as well as the joys. It’s not always pretty. But it is our story. Thank you for sharing it with us. And please, let us know what you think.
