After a few months of PA School, I hardly remember anything about my previous life…. But I wouldn’t change it for anything! PA School is a crazy place, but you’ll be amazed at what your mind and body can handle.

I am originally from San Diego, CA, and despite my many ventures I still consider it home. I graduated from Long Beach State in 2003 with a BA in Kinesiology, option in Athletic Training. From there I went on to Utah State and graduated with an MS in Exercise Science. While at USU, I was a graduate assistant athletic trainer in the Athletics Department. My first real job out of grad school was at Illinois State University, where I worked as a full time athletic trainer for the women’s basketball program. I spent a total of 5 years there and loved it! But, as with many professions, I felt limited in my scope and decided to pursue a career as a PA. And now I’m in Portland!

In my free time (haha, what’s that?) I like to spend time with my husband exploring our new city, one restaurant at a time…

It’s students writing first-hand about their commitment to careers in science and health care. It’s honest about the challenges as well as the joys. It’s not always pretty. But it is our story. Thank you for sharing it with us. And please, let us know what you think.
