Hannah Wilson

Hannah Wilson webGrowing up in the mountains of Park City, Utah, I developed life-long hobbies of skiing, mountain biking and fly-fishing. After graduating with a B.S. in nutrition from California Polytechnic State University, I moved to the rural town of Telluride, Colorado, where I worked as a community health worker. It was there that I discovered the fulfillment of helping improve the lives of my community. After seeing the need for registered dietitians in remote corners of the western United States, I enrolled at OHSU for the Dietetic Internship class of 2018. Within the next year I will be completing 1,200 supervised practice hours, 32 graduate school credits and will become eligible to sit for the Registration Examination for Dietitians. I hope to share my experiences with you as I go from sensory testing at Oregon State University Food Innovations Center to formulating parenteral nutrition prescriptions with clinical dietitians at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center and many places in-between.

Ever wondered what life is like as a student at OHSU? What does it take to become a researcher? Just how gross is gross anatomy? Welcome to the blog that answers these – and many other – questions. It’s students writing first-hand about their commitment to careers in science and health care. It’s honest about the challenges as well as the joys. It’s not always pretty. But it is our story. Thank you for sharing it with us. And please, let us know what you think.
