Anushka Shenoy

Anushka was born and raised in Portland before moving to New York City to pursue a degree in Economics and Mathematics. She spent her junior year at the London School of Economics, but after graduation moved back to the best coast to work for Bain and Company, a management consulting firm, in San Francisco. After three years of corporate America she realized she wanted to be a doctor …. so she abruptly quit her job, took her first science classes in high school at Portland State University, and enrolled at OHSU two years (almost to the day!) later.

Anushka is particularly interested in medical leadership, psychiatry, and working with underserved populations, particularly children and young adults. In her extensive free time she loves taking advantage of the Northwest’s natural beauty, from backpacking over the summer to exploring natural hot springs when the weather gets cold. She feels lucky to be back in Portland and at OHSU.

Ever wondered what life is like as a student at OHSU? What does it take to become a researcher? Just how gross is gross anatomy? Welcome to the blog that answers these – and many other – questions. It’s students writing first-hand about their commitment to careers in science and health care. It’s honest about the challenges as well as the joys. It’s not always pretty. But it is our story. Thank you for sharing it with us. And please, let us know what you think.
