Several construction and upgrade projects are under way on the Marquam Hill campus and will continue into the summer and beyond. Scheduled power outage to impact Richard Jones Hall, Mar. 14

To make improvements to the emergency power electrical distribution system, Richard Jones Hall will experience some power outages Saturday, Mar. 14, from 7 to 11 a.m. Impacts include: Egress exit signs will not be illuminated. Stairwell lighting will be replaced with temporary lighting during the outage. The freight elevator will not be functional. All other normal and emergency power will not be affected. Research courtyard: Crane dismantled, work continues into April

The third phase of the North Campus Utility Plant project behind Richard Jones Hall, which began in early November, hit a significant milestone earlier this month. The crane, which was positioned in the research courtyard to lift materials and equipment for the cooling tower replacement project on the backside of RJH and the Vollum Institute, has been dismantled. Intermittent electrical shutdowns in Richard Jones Hall, Jan. 29 and 30

To perform electrical system upgrades that will support chilled water system improvements, power to Richard Jones Hall will be shut off Thursday, Jan. 29, and Friday, Jan. 30, from 2:30 to 5:30 a.m. Backup power will be functioning during the shutdown. As a safeguard measure, research staff are asked to unplug any non-essential, sensitive or electronic equipment and close all fume hood sashes. Research courtyard: Construction project starting soon

The third phase of the North Campus Utility Plant project behind Richard Jones Hall is expected to begin Saturday, Nov. 8, and continue in stages into the new year. The work includes positioning a crane in the research courtyard, lifting materials and equipment over the top of RJH, and installing supports and cooling towers on the backside of RJH and the Vollum Institute.
