If your research is in the Hatfield Research Center, be prepared for a power shut-off on Saturday, November 14. On Saturday November 14th, 2009, a malfunctioning high voltage automatic transfer switch that supplies the building’s normal power from PGE will be replaced. Specific Impacts Saturday, November 14th-15th 11:30 PM -6:30 AM Ø Hatfield Research Center: Electrical impact with loss of utility power to general lighting in hallways, restrooms, break rooms and common areas; normal power … Read More
The University Shared Resources program is delighted to announce the opening of the new Advanced Light Microscopy Core at the Jungers Center. This new facility represents a collaboration among several microscopy groups on campus, including the Jungers Center for Neurosciences Research, the Department of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology, and the Oregon Hearing Research Center. The new Shared Resource, staffed by two experienced imaging specialists, can meet many of your confocal and live-cell imaging needs. Instruments … Read More
Beginning about October 1, the Proteomics Shared Resource will be offering has a new mass spec instrument that should greatly increase the productivity of proteomics experiments. Specifically, this instrument is a ThermoFisher LTQ Velos linear ion trap mass spectrometer with an electron transfer dissociation source. It was awarded through an S10 shared equipment grant from NCRR. This instrument more than doubles the number of proteins that can be identified in complex mixtures. This extreme sensitivity … Read More
The Human Investigation Program (HIP) Buffet is hosting the University Shared Resources Program and the Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute (OCTRI) to provide information on the instruments, services, and other resources available to researchers at OHSU. University Shared Resources Program Director Sue Aicher, PhD, and a cadre of Core Resource Service Center Directors will discuss OHSU’s shared instruments, their capabilities, and the services offered by these research resource centers. A new genotyping assay for drug metabolism studies is now available to OHSU researchers. Compared to traditional methods, the microassay enables faster discovery and measurement of genetic variation associated with drug response. It includes 1,936 drug metabolism markers in 225 genes and covers more than 90 percent of the current ADME Core markers as defined by the PharmaADME group. This new tool can help investigators discover new biomarker associations, determine drug responders versus non-responders, and … Read More
NIH 2009 Shared Instrumentation Grant (S10): Request for Preliminary Proposals . The National Center for Research Resources is currently offering the Shared Instrument Grant (SIG) program to purchase or upgrade commercially available research instruments that can only be justified on a shared-use basis for biomedical research. These applications require internal coordination to ensure appropriate institutional support. Please submit a brief 2-5 page preliminary proposal to the OHSU Core Oversight Committee for review by February 5, … Read More
