Two trees to be removed from Research Courtyard

UPDATE Tuesday, Aug. 2: The two trees were removed on Saturday, July 30. Within the coming weeks, two tall conifer trees in the Research Courtyard between Mac Hall Cafe and the new Center for Radiochemistry Research will be removed due to an imminent safety hazard. During the course of CRR construction and courtyard renovations, crews discovered the conifers in the southwest corner had inadequate root systems to support their height, posing a toppling risk. OHSU breaks ground on cancer research facility

OHSU broke ground June 16 on its newest building, the 320,000-square-foot Knight Cancer Institute research facility on the South Waterfront. Located north of the Collaborative Life Sciences Building, the new facility will house up to 600 researchers and administrators dedicated to research programs in early cancer detection, computational biology, immuno-oncology, leukemia, prostate, and other areas. Construction on the Radiochemistry Research Center starts to wrap up

Construction on the Center for Radiochemistry Research is scheduled to be completed around the end of May. The final stages of construction, including the delivery of laboratory instruments and the installation of an exhaust shaft, will be happening over the next couple of months. You’ll see scaffolding on the side of the MRB as the exhaust shaft is installed, during which time employees in MRB may see workers outside their windows and hear a little noise. The demolition of the south facade of the Vollum Institute began Monday, Jan. 18, and will continue through Friday, Feb. 29. Work will take place during weekdays after 3:30 p.m. to minimize impacts. Center for Radiochemistry Research enters next phase of construction

The Center for Radiochemistry Research construction project has moved into a new phase of work with steel framing delivered this week. In preparation, there has been a considerable amount of welding going on in the Research Courtyard with a crane being set up to facilitate the installation of the framing. Research courtyard: Crane dismantled, work continues into April

The third phase of the North Campus Utility Plant project behind Richard Jones Hall, which began in early November, hit a significant milestone earlier this month.
