About the Author

Jesika S. Gavilanes is the Director of Operations for OHSU Simulation at the Collaborative Life Sciences Building. The 20,000 square foot facility runs high-fidelity manikin based simulations, standardized patients, procedural, and clinical skills training. Jesika has worked for Oregon Health & Science University since 1993 and full time for over 17 years, since 1997-she has been involved in simulation operations for over eleven years. Jesika also serves as the Associate Director for the Surgical simulation center at OHSU. Jesika is currently the chair of the Oregon Simulation Alliance. Jesika is currently the chair of the Oregon Simulation Alliance, which is a statewide non-profit agency that collaborates with simulation facilities across the state of Oregon. She develops policies and procedures in relation to simulation and clinical skills training including: scheduling, utilization data reporting, equipment maintenance and space utilization to name a few. Jesika has been involved with simulation facilities across the country assisting with logistics, operations and simulation implementation. She is a member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
