OHSU Traumatic Brain Injury/Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Research Symposium: Research to Rehab

The Traumatic Brain Injury/Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Research to Rehab Symposium has been funded by an OHSU Research Collaborative Advancement Award and supported by the OHSU Brain Institute to promote the growth and collaboration of TBI/PTSD research at OHSU. The symposium will include presentations and posters from OHSU faculty, Portland VA Medical Center researchers, and local collaborators. Participants will have the opportunity to meet potential collaborators for future grant proposals. National experts in the field have been invited to offer guidance in developing our research programs and proposals.

The Symposium is free for OHSU, VA researchers and clinicians, and for invited non-OHSU research collaborators. If you’re interested, take a look at the agenda below and consider registering for the symposium.

Symposium Agenda

8 a.m. Introduction and overview

8:15 to 9:45 a.m.  Mild TBI/concussionIdentifying  and treating  early indicators of delayed recovery: Altered sensory integration

10:00 to 11:45 a.m.  Chronic TBI/PTSD - Identifying gaps and opportunities in the treatment of chronic conditions associated with TBI/PTSD

11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Lunch provided

12 to 1 p.m. Keynote address: “Lessons Learned in Building an Institutional TBI Program”
Presented by: Don Stein, Ph.D., distinguished professor, Brain Research Laboratory, Emory University School of Medicine

1 to 2:45 p.m. Severe TBI-intensive care – Preventing secondary brain injury

3 to 4 p.m. Grant and funding opportunities – Developing collaborative research proposals, programs, and centers

4 to 5 p.m. Wine and cheese reception and poster sessions
