OHSU’s Andrew Fowler wins statewide Three Minute Thesis competition

Andrew Fowler, a Ph.D. student in the Center for Spoken Language Understanding at OHSU, won Oregon’s first statewide Three Minute Thesis competition for his presentation, “Efficient Typing with a Brain Computer Interface.” The competition took place at Portland State University on Saturday, May 17.

3MT® is an academic competition developed by the University of Queensland, Australia. The exercise develops academic, presentation, and research communication skills as students explain their research in three minutes in a language appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience.

Andrew previously took first place at OHSU’s 3MT competition on May 7.

  1. As a non-scientist, this is perhaps my favorite event of Research Week. I’m sorry not to have seen the PSU event!

Nice job of winning the top spot for our state and representing OHSU so well, Andrew! Also, that is some really cool work you’re doing!

  2. Congratulations!
