The Knight Cancer Institute is calling for proposals for this year’s Cancer Research Development Awards. The purpose of this funding mechanism is to cultivate outstanding cancer research by assisting in the generation of preliminary data for peer-reviewed national funding and career development proposals. This mechanism is intended to support clinical, basic, or population-based research that is cancer focused. Scientific excellence will be the key review element for all applications. Interdisciplinary research, in which investigators from disparate scientific areas collaborate to bring unique approaches to the cancer problem, is required.
This year, thanks to the generous support of our donors, three one-year $10,000 research development awards are offered:
- Cathy and Jim Career Development Award for Cancer Research
- U.S. Bank Cancer Research Development Award
- Oregon Cancer Ski Out Cancer Research Development Award
Eligible applicants include faculty within five years of their first faculty appointment and senior-level trainees (e.g. senior post-doctoral fellows without faculty rank of assistant professor). Individuals must not yet have received independent R01-comparable research funding.
Application deadline: December 6, 2013
