Sunshine Provisions National Provider Call, Aug. 8

The “Sunshine Provisions” of the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act requires manufacturers to report to the federal government any payments they make to physicians and teaching hospitals. Pharmaceutical, medical device, biological and medical supply manufacturers will start tracking payments to physicians on August 1, 2013.  This information will be made available on a publicly accessible website beginning September 30, 2014.

The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is holding a National Provider Call on Thursday, August 8 at 10:30 a.m. entitled, OPEN PAYMENTS – Policy Updates on Payments and the Physician Resource Toolkit (click the link to register). This call will have updates on program policy and a demonstration of new mobile apps for Open Payments, which have been designed by CMS to make tracking payment information easier and to improve the accuracy of tracking payments.
