Vollum Career Development Workshop: Giving a Seminar, Feb. 5
In academia, sometimes you’re so busy gathering data that your communication skills are ignored. But even if you’re conducting research worthy of the Nobel, you will be severely handicapped if you can’t communicate effectively. This workshop was developed with the aim of helping you to improve your presentation and seminar-leading abilities. Co-presenters Gary Westbrook, M.D., Senior Scientist and Co-Director of the Vollum Institute, and Craig Jahr, Ph.D., Senior Scientist at the Vollum, will discuss strategies and give advice on how best to hone your public speaking skills. The
workshop begins at 4 p.m., Tuesday, February 5 in the Vollum Institute auditorium, room M1441.
This event, which is part of the Vollum Career Development Series, is especially geared toward postdocs and grad students, but anyone is welcome. We highly encourage you to attend this event in person–we are not recording these–but we will arrange for live streaming if you are on West Campus. If you are interested in viewing as a live stream, please contact funding@ohsu.edu.
