All eyes are on Oregon

In May, the federal government invested $1.9 billion in Oregon’s ambitious Medicaid reform initiative, betting that our state’s approach could slow health care spending without compromising quality. Policy makers from across the nation – and both sides of the aisle – are watching to see what happens. Thanks to philanthropic support from Phil and Barbara Silver and a grant from the National Institutes of Health, OHSU’s Center for Health Systems Effectiveness will be tracking the program closely, measuring key indicators of success and sharing what it finds with policy makers nationwide. OHSU’s impartial analysis will be essential to driving health care reform toward solutions that are proven to work.
